Candace Moehnke
Candace Moehnke joins Rush on Unfinished Business, the show for veterans pursuing new missions after the uniform and for the families and communities who stand beside them. She grew up in a family touched by military service and became a young Navy wife herself, married to a submariner, Bruce, at a time when their communication could shrink to a thirty word family message. At 22 years old she lost Bruce while he was still serving on active duty. What followed was a courtroom, judgment from people around her, and years when trusting community did not come easily.
Later she loved a Marine Corps combat veteran and saw another side of service: the nightmares, the withdrawal, the hard transition, and the way one person’s experiences move through an entire household. Today she is a Co-Founder of Storm Forged Alliance, building experiences for Veterans, Active Duty Military, First Responders, Specialized Government Personnel, and their families. As she put it in the conversation, family does not have to be blood.
